The International Association of Building Physics (IABP) Board of Directors officially invites expressions of interest from those wishing to host the IBPC 2030 International Conference.
IBPC conferences and congresses are designed to be consistent with IABP’s strategic priorities, developed by and for its members. We hope that colleagues from all our regions will submit proposals so that we can select a candidate capable of ensuring the representativity of all our members. Priority will be given to areas that have not organized IBPC in recent years (Europe, Asia, and South America), though the call remains open to all prospective hosts.
Our Vision for IBPC 2030 IABP’s vision for its upcoming conferences focuses on three key elements:

Sustainability: Legacy of the conference, local partnerships, allowance for a zero-waste policy, and more sustainable management of events.

Inclusivity: Accessibility for all, guarantee of diversity in all aspects of the programme, and a grant/bursary scheme (maintaining affordability for young researchers and students).

Accountability: Transparency over costs and benefits, and a proactive approach to cost-efficiency.
Conference Format The conference programme extends over 3 days, uniquely combining plenary sessions, workshops, and meetings of the different IABP groups, assemblies, and committees. Sessions are preceded by a summer school, which we aim to keep, organized through close cooperation between IBPC 2030 organizers and stakeholders. The event will conclude with a closing ceremony, alongside widely appreciated social events, evening celebrations, and a gala dinner.
Information Required for Bids The Evaluation Committee will take the following factors into account. Proposals must include:

Names, full profiles, and details of the prospective hosts/partners, host institution(s), city, and country.

Details of the proposed venue (capacities and services).

Proposed dates (ensuring no overlap with major events, religious holidays, or other important local events).

Visa and immigration requirements, and measures to ensure visas are issued to participants.

Assurance and evidence of the host’s track record, IABP visibility opportunities, mitigation of potential challenges, relevance of the proposed theme, and the host’s involvement in IABP activities.

Evidence of the capability to organize the conference and fund contractually agreed items.

Possible scenarios for registration fees across different categories (e.g., early bird, members/non-members, low-resource countries, students).

A provisional conference budget (revenues and expenditure), including details of possible cost items (logistics, accommodation, catering, etc.).

Major sources of financial support, available local resources, and details of any additional income (grants, sponsorships).

A description of how the envisaged financial model will work.
