Nordic Symposium on Building Physics NSB 2026

Welcomes you to Tampere!

The Building Physics Research Group at Tampere University and Kiinko Real Estate Education will organize the 14th Nordic Symposium on Building Physics NSB 2026 in Tampere 8–10 June 2026.

NSB 2026 is an international conference that offers the latest knowledge, new research results and practical solutions in building physics with a special focus on heat, air, and moisture transfer in building materials, building envelope structures, and whole buildings.

NSB 2026 provides a great opportunity for researchers, engineers and professionals in the building sector to share research results, present new technologies and connect with international experts.

The main theme of the 2026 conference is Climate Change in Building Physics

Climate change has emerged as one of the most critical challenges for the built environment. The increasing outdoor air temperature and amount of rain lead to more demanding climatic conditions, including increased wind-driven rain, more susceptible conditions for mould growth and higher risk for heatwaves and indoor overheating. At the same time, both new and existing buildings should be energy efficient and have a low environmental impact.

“These changes require a new approach to design — one that considers evolving conditions while also supporting our shared goals in mitigating climate change. We need multidisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based knowledge to build a safe and sustainable future environment,” says Professor Juha Vinha from the Building Physics Research Group at Tampere University.

Long history

NSB was first organized in 1987, and it has been a regular event every third year. With a history of nearly 40 years, it is one of the oldest conferences focused on building physics. Its roots are in the Nordics, but nowadays participants come from all over the world. In 2023, the Scientific Committee had 124 expert members from different backgrounds.

Call for Papers is open

The Call for Papers is now open and the link to the submission system is available at the conference website nsb2026.org. The conference accepts Scientific Papers, which will be published in an open-access indexed proceedings, and Technical Papers, which will be published as a non-indexed online report. Main important dates are:

  • Abstract submissions by September 30, 2025
  • Full paper submissions by January 15, 2026
  • Notification of paper acceptance by March 31, 2026

All papers are reviewed by the Scientific Committee. On-site presentation of the paper is required at the conference. Only one presentation per person is accepted.
